Okay another short entry on Rome, I really don’t want to bore everyone with my rather vain photos
Our hotel was just a 5 minute walk from the Colosseum so obviously we took the most photos at this place.
We paid 12 euros for the entrance to both the Colosseum and the Roman Forum which was reasonable but what I hated most was the queue. I wished they had a fast track for people with babies although they did have one for people taking the guided tour. We would have done so if Aidan wasn’t with us, obviously having a baby means you’ll be following his pace rather than yours.
The Colosseum turned out to be quite stroller friendly which surprised me a lot - you still had to manouver the odd cobblestones and steps but in general it was alright, and they even had a lift to go to the next level. So don’t be nervous about traveling with a baby, just give them plenty of milk and tickles!
The crowd was rather overwhelming at times and it’s nearly impossible to take a photo without some stranger in it.
I think it’s best to avoid coming here in July and August – the best time to come is probably October when the weather is mild and less crowded with tourists. November is supposed to be wet but we were extremely lucky with the rays of sunshine.
And by the way, if we ever come here again with a babysitter, we’ll definitely tour Rome this way,
We also got a good view of the Roman Forum from the Colosseum, I’ll put some photos of it in my next entry.
And finally, 2 clips of the Colosseum taken both day and night. I really love my el-cheapo camera

The Segway looks really cool… is it new? I didn’t see them when I was there!
We were pick-pocketed at the road leading to the Roman Forum. Memories, memories… hehehe…
Been wanting to mention but kept forgetting, I think Aidan looks so much like your dad! Love that he’s all giggly now… cute!
I remember you mentioning about being unlucky in rome!
Anyway, trust me you’re not the first to comment about aidan looking like my father!
Everyone back home thinks the same too
Funny how my dad wanted a grandson so much that aidan turned out looking like him, haha.
Love the 2nd pic ie night view! I’ve heard/read about segway but not sure whether have seen one. I did see one unique automobile (unsure whether it was a car or bike) while in paris. I reckon I’ll use segway esp when there is a lot to cover! Obviously lazy mode here.
The lil boy is cute when he giggles.
The colosseum is very beautiful and romantic at night!
You must make a trip with little B to rome, there’s so much to explore and let me know about the segway
ps: I hope you’re feeling much better!
Darn it, Rome. How could I have missed it.
We almost stayed near the colosseum! But your elcheapo camera takes waaaaayyyy cooler el-expensivo like pictures than my elcheapo lah!:(
Vatican was cool eh?? Aidan is very photogenic indeed!
The night view of the Colosseum is impressive!!
XX
coffee junkie,
our hotel was great but i think its better to stay near the trevi fountain and pantheon where there’s lots of shopping
oh, most of the photos were take by the d60. only the videos and some photos were taken by my canon!! hehe..
i was just amazed that the canon could take rather clear videos, i bought it so cheap la that you wouldnt believe the price!
ps: i think all babies are photogenic! aidan has more of my looks so i dont think he’ll be that photogenic in the future…haha
I remember being very pleasantly surprised when our van taxi took us to our hotel from the airport – just a few steps away from the Trevi fountain! It was a quaint hotel and the room was tiny but excellently designed and finished – and most of all such fantastic location! I should have remembered the name.. would definitely recommend it.
