I am in my S.O.S mood.
We will be heading home next week and does anyone out there know where I can get cheap, affordable readymade baju kurung ? So far nothing in my wardrobe fits! Mom also mentioned she bought Aidan his first baju melayu and I hope it fits him like a glove, if not – where can I get a decent baju melayu for a 4/5 month old ?
Despite getting all excited about our trip home, I am very nervous about the very long journey. My biggest worry is his frantic screaming and I am all for sedating the little rascal on the flight if he gets a little out of hand but the daddy has strongly opposed the idea. So looks like I will have to pack his favourite blankie, toy and pillow along to recreate his bedroom scene in that tiny little bassinet, I hope it works. And that’s not counting the pre-sterilized disposable bottles and bibs, nappies, jammies etc that I have to lug too. Oh dear, oh dear – Wish me luck ! Any tips ?
I won’t be having much of a raya celebration this weekend as hubby will be oncall on Friday and Sunday eventhough we have been invited to a few houses. I’ll see how it goes. There’s so much to settle – we called the gardener over yesterday to mow the lawn which was looking rather desperate and Aidan also just had his 4 month vaccination and has been feeling rather contrary. He woke up twice in the middle of the night with a burning head. For the past 2 months, he has been sleeping alone through the night with no feeds, so last night was pretty alarming that he demanded a cuddle and that’s what he got, poor boy.
I am slowly organizing his Aqiqah from here – ordered little favours but I have yet to reconfirm with the people. I have warned mom to not bother about a decorated crib as the hefty boy is already rolling, topsy turvy! We have been joking about putting him in his bumbo seat but knowing him, he’ll be squirming to get out after 5 minutes. That’s why its best to have the Aqiqah when they’re 7 days old when all they do is sleep, hehe.
And…I haven’t come round to emailing you people about our open house! Now I wish I have Facebook, makes life easier. I hope to do so soon-ish (not Facebook) so do check your email! If not, I have to rely on Momster for everyone’s number. (How come I only have her number ?)
Some time this week I have to start packing our clothes, send the car for servicing, vaccinate Pepper ( I hope she doesn’t get a fever too) and prepare her food and lodging, clean the house as we’re expecting guests on Monday , iron hubby’s work clothes as he will be coming back to Eire earlier, juggle a very demanding 4 month old baby AND trying to read Dan Brown’s latest! I know I can hire a babysitter as all of it can be done in a day or 2, but at the same time I know it’s feasible if planned accordingly. And then there’s raya too!
Okay, if you don’t hear from us – Selamat Hari Raya and Maaf Zahir Batin! Have a safe journey balik kampung .
Sorry no formal raya photo of the 3 of us on the sofa and I hope this will do- a pleasant walk in the park before heading off to a friend’s iftar last Saturday.

He kept looking away !
We wanted to take a photo of Aidan in his Harvard tee to give to my father but he was getting too distracted by the other tourists. I caught his Tok talking to him when he was just born – ‘Nanti bile besar masuk Harvard macam Tok!’
You can be anything you want Aidan as long as you love Mommy! hehe.

Future Harvard Freshman ?

Lovely garden - I wish my lawn is as green as this

And finally now he decides to look at the camera!
ps: All this written in 15 minutes and me sounding like a choo choo train.

No worries la about the baju kurung – sekarang ni banyak tempat oredi
kalau my neck of the woods, try pkns shah alam or sacc mall. Kat Alamanda pun sure banyak shops la. Laaa ni cotton baju is the in-thing (which is good sebab senang basuh, comfy etc etc etc esp with a baby):D
On the flight, distract Aidan by giving him the breast! Hahahaha – this is esp good bila taking off / landing, solves the ear pressure thingamajig…
And bring along some NEW toys for him – sorok, only bring it out one at a time masa dia menjerit (teeheehee). Boleh la distract sekejap…
Can’t wait!!
kataklicik,
thanks for the info, i forgot all about alamanda – i can only think of carrefour when it comes to alamanda! oh yes, cotton sounds tempting as it is pretty much vomit, drool and poo proof!
oh i bought aidan not 1, not 2 BUT 3 new toys! that should keep him entertained.
cant wait to meet all the kids, yea! oh we might need to borrow some stuff when we get home nanti.
IDB,
A decorated bumbo seat sounds cool, though the longest Imtiyaz stayed in a bumbo last time was maybe err… 2 minutes? His thighs were too tight for it actually…. hahaha…
As much as i can remember, I’ve never bought ready-made kurungs to tell you the truth, but I saw the selections are so much better this year when I was browsing around. I bet alamanda would still have some when you are back. We usually got Imtiyaz’s baju melayu from Omar Ali at Alamanda last few years to avoid the crowd at Wisma Yakin. but this year, just before Ramadhan, we actually went there, itu pun because my sister insisted we go! if me & Tajul, we’d skip the crowd, definitely.
And the longest flight with Imtiyaz was just a mere 2-hour or so. Itupun enough to make the other passengers looking our way every few seconds coz he can never sit still. So, can’t advice you on that!
I love cotton baju kurungs too! Always the one I’d choose to wear every time!
If I remember correctly, Parkson, Isetan, Jusco do have them. There is one boutique which I discovered last year in Taman Tun, near the first primary school. Very reasonable price I think (compare to those in KLCC!!). They even do alteration for free (I bought a size bigger for the young lady).
My girl had her 1st long haul flight when she was 3. Thank god she slept most of the times and when she didnt, she was happily watching cartoon/eating etc. So I cant really say what to do here.
Anyway, selamat hari raya and maaf zahir batin.
baju kurung murah – pkns shah alam
baju melayu baby – pkns shah alam
tips travelling wif baby:
- to avoid telinga sakit masa takeoff/landing, sumbat nenen or pacifier
- how to entertain them small humans? download banyak2 applications dalam ur iphone. hehehe… also his fave cartoons… no need to bring a lot of toys. buat berat je.
- x pack clothings yg susah nak pakai or byk pieces (pants/baju). pack 2 jumpsuits (or 3 depending how many hours u have to be in the plane)
- diapers, ni kena bawak banyak. plan to change every 3 hours so that x bocor kena baju.
- susu? bagi boobies je.. heheh… x payah nak angkut botol/formula/etcetctetctetdctet….
- if nothing works to calm him down, slip in a little bit of ubat batuk kasi dia drowsy. Ini bukan utk senangkan parents, tapi kesian dekat budak if they cry the whole way. It is very tiring to sit on a plane for long hours dengan telinga dan hidung yg tersumbat.
hmmm…. i think that covers everything. my flight back is 2moro nite. hopefully budak2 ni x meragam la for 2.5hours in the plane.
have a safe journey and selamat hari raya!
