And Baby Makes 3

...

Back then it was just the 2 of us

But this year…

....

we have this little guy to celebrate with us!

We will be having a quiet celebration at home unlike last year’s rendezvous to Paris which ended with this.

The daddy’s not scheduled to be oncall so that’s great already. I hope we get to squeeze a little trip to the garden if the weather permits, if not, looks like it’ll be another weekend at home watching movies on the telly.

Happy Anniversary dear!

Diaper Cake

I will be attending a dear friend’s baby shower tomorrow and decided to make her a gift instead of buying one.

So yesterday I made a mad dash from Mothercare to Mamas & Papas to Marks to Tescos to find the perfect ingredients.

Bought pretty little toys to compliment the gift and was lucky that all the shops were having a sale. I was only on the lookout for specials, hehe.

The only problem was Aidan as he was getting a bit cranky and tired that we had to make a break for a nappy change and a feed. He dozed off the minute we came home giving the mommy and daddy plenty of time to work out what to make.

2 hours later we came up with this…

Not bad, eh ?

A Diaper Cake !

We used 57 diapers, a hooded towel and bath mitt, a teething ring, 2 wrist rattles, 1 baby signboard, some ribbons, foam stickers and diaper pins. The individual diapers required some rolling up with rubber bands and a little fiddling, a second person comes in handy here. I used 31 diapers for the first tier, 19 for the second and 7 for the third. Oh, I also used a pair of chopsticks to secure the 3 tiers in place. It would be much easier if you have a theme in mind and would probably take an hour tops to make one. Once you have the cake ready, you can use your creativity with the little toys, ribbons and stickers.

So that’s my diaper cake – simple and easy, and an ideal gift for a newborn.

Let’s just hope the mommy-to-be will love the gift!

Pitter Patter

I could sit and stare at these tiny little toes all day.

....

Anyway, I did the craziest thing on Saturday waking up at 4am to catch the sale.

Here I was thinking I was already super-kiasu to arrive at 5 am (the store opened at 4am) and boy, was I wrong!

Parking was a great challenge and people were already walking to their cars with tonnes of shopping bags.

Rushed into the store and grabbed as many clothes for baby Aidan. I didn’t have time to browse as everybody else was simply grabbing, I think the recession is really hitting everyone.

Luckily there is a very good return policy so I wasn’t worried. Hey, T-shirts for 2 euros, jeans for 4 euros, wouldn’t you do the same ??? Luckily the daddy was very supportive as he knew we could save a lot. Plus why spend a bomb when they grow at lightning speed.

The result = Enough clothes to last him until the next winter sale :D

A very fruitful weekend and I am one very happy mom too!

How to ‘Save The Day’ like this ?

It’s Pouring

It has been raining every single day the past week that we had to put on hold any plans for a BBQ at our place, at least until the sun returns again.

And with the gloomy weather,  we haven’t been playing much with the dslr as we having been staying in most days.

So for the folks back home (my parents have been demanding a photo of him every time I call home), I hope this photo of Aidan from my iPhone will do – a bit blurry but you can’t expect much from a 2MP camera.

A close up to accentuate his chubby cheeks and you don’t have to guess far as to where he inherited it from! :D
