Hungry, hungry!

I kept thinking of Madam Kwan’s Kuey Tiaw recently that I whipped up my own version complete with taugeh, tauhu, udang, daging and bawang goreng.

We’ve had it twice for dinner this week and I think I am getting better at making it.

(My mom must be so proud of me.  Heheh. I really have to master how to make her super yummy Nasi Tomato next!)

Sometimes I wonder where I get the energy to cook after working from 9 till 7pm. Paediatric clinics tend to drag on forever!

And believe me, the picture doesn’t do justice laa.

Come Dine With Me

Last Friday night I had this sudden craving for Chicken Rendang and so we rushed at 8pm to the local Malaysian/Asian store looking for ingredients.

We couldn’t find any galangal or tumeric so that dampened my mood, I could make a simple version of it but I knew it wouldn’t taste the same. We did find some frozen crabs though.

The very next day which happened to be Valentine’s Day, a few friends decided to pay our new home a visit.

Luckily I was in the mood to cook and with our kitchen well stocked with food, I made ‘Nasi Lemak with Sambal Ayam and Sweet and Sour Crab’.

I should have taken a close-up of the 'sweet and sour crab' and 'sambal ayam'

Food prepared with love :D

I should have taken a close-up of the Sambal Ayam and Sweet and Sour Crab, as always hubby was too busy munching away! And that is why we never have photos of home cook meals…heheh.

Dessert time!

Time for dessert!

The meal was followed by tea and New York Vanilla Cheesecake which wasn’t homemade by the way ;)

I was tired at the end of the day, but it was all worth it!

What a Week!

As far as I can remember my 11++ years here, I have never seen so much snow in Ireland. It is usually a one day affair and to have it 6 days in a row is pretty much a miracle.

Like a scene from Narnia

Like a scene from Narnia

It was a beautiful sight in the beginning since we live pretty close to the mountains, but it then became a little bit of a nuisance when the snow melted into icy slush.

how dreadful

how dreadful

A 10 minute drive became a 90 minute drive as roads became slippery and cars were skidding everywhere. Driving became so hazardous and treacherous that I dreaded leaving the house. All I wanted to do was hibernate in front of the telly!

D

Guess the footprints :D

I can’t wait for spring to arrive!

A Snowy Day

The Lounge

The Lounge

We have successfully moved into the new 3 bedroom house last night, yea!

I know the next few days will be a great challenge finding out where everything is as we are slowly sorting out our clothes, shoes, books etc and at the same time making the house more livable for the both of us.

As the house is still an utter mayhem, we had indian takeaway 2 nights in a row.

Anyway, to our surprise we woke up this morning to a very snowy morning which is so, so rare in Dublin.

And although I was still tired from from the weekend move, we couldn’t say no to the generous amount of snow falling in our backgarden.

Hubby went all out building a snowman with his bare hands! He insisted on making a bigger one but I said, NOOOO!

D

The pom-poms were actually meant for my niece, sorry Amber! :D

He’s so proud of it too, heheh.

Hubby built this snowman with no gloves, crazy!
